    • Research Interest  
       

      In the recently concluded 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Malaysia has pledged to ensure its role in contributing towards achieving the target set by the Paris Agreement. As one of the member of COP21, Malaysia is committed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emission by 45% by 2030. Biodiesel is able to reduce the GHG emission as compared to burning of fossil fuel. The government has implemented the B7 biodiesel blend for the transportation industry and is looking into the implementation of the B10 blend by the end of 2016. In relation to this, my current research interest revolves around biodiesel and heterogeneous catalysts for production of biodiesel. Various areas are in urgent need for improvement especially in terms of cost of production and quality of biodiesel. The research mainly focuses on producing low cost and reusable heterogeneous catalyst for production of good quality biodiesel. Other than the catalyst, the feedstock for biodiesel production is also a matter of concern.

      2. Simultaneous esterification and transesterification of high free fatty acid oils into methyl esters
      3. Incorporation of boiler ash in the synthesis of catalyst for biodiesel
      4. Metal incorporated bio-polymers as potential heterogeneous catalysts for esterification/transesterification
      5. Investigating the usage of waste oils as feedstock for biodiesel production
