My teaching philosophy as an academic is to pique students' interest in chemistry by stimulating their curiosity. I also want students to understand the significance of chemistry in their daily lives. I want to foster a learning environment in which students are eager to learn about chemistry in order to gain a better understanding of their surroundings, and eventually develop young scientists capable of great invention and innovation in new technologies capable of solving global problems.

Research

Research Interest

My research interests are focused on designing, synthesising, characterising, and testing a controlled nanodelivery system as a means of developing an environmentally friendly and safe nano-product that will ensure tomorrow's sustainability. A novel controlled nanodelivery system should have a long circulation time, be able to target pathogenic cells without affecting healthy cells, and eventually be able to efficiently deliver and release active molecules into the target site. The ultimate goal of a controlled drug delivery system is for the active molecule to reach a desired optimal concentration at targeting sites (pathogenic cells) while remaining at safe levels in other cells and tissues. Finding an appropriate delivery carrier system is one of the major challenges in achieving this effect. Thus, the host-guest type nanocomposites have been investigated by combining nanomaterials with active molecules via a chemical reaction. Another issue that arises in nano-products is their safety and toxicity. As a result, natural biopolymer has been chosen as a nanocarrier in the development of novel controlled nanodelivery systems that are safer by design. The research aligns with Malaysia's commitment to more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive development, as well as the related Sustainable Development Goal of Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3). The findings of this study have the potential to contribute to the SDG3 target goals.
