Universiti Sains Malaysia, through the School of Chemical Sciences, participated in the “Guest Lecture and Workshop on Scientific Writing and Publishing in International Journals” organised by the Graduate School of Syiah Kuala University from 5–7 May 2026 in Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

The programme featured Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nasir Mohamad Ibrahim as the invited speaker under the Visiting Top Professor Programme supported by the Education Fund Management Board (LPDP). The workshop gathered postgraduate students, lecturers, and researchers from various disciplines to strengthen their scientific writing and publication skills for internationally recognised journals.

Throughout the three-day programme, participants were exposed to important aspects of academic publishing, including journal selection, manuscript preparation, effective scientific communication, publication ethics, and strategies for responding to reviewers’ comments. The sessions provided valuable insights into improving the quality and impact of scientific publications at the international level.

In addition to the workshop activities, discussions were also conducted regarding potential research collaborations between Universiti Sains Malaysia and Syiah Kuala University, particularly in the fields of green energy and sustainable biofuels. Laboratory and departmental visits further strengthened academic networking and promoted knowledge exchange between both institutions.

This programme reflects USM’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration, advancing research excellence, and enhancing the culture of high-quality scientific publication among academics and postgraduate researchers.
