Senior Lecturer
Mohamad Nurul Azmi was graduated from the University of Malaya in 2011 with BSc. Applied Chemistry and MSc in Natural Products. In 2012, he continue his PhD. under Co-tutelle Program between University of Malaya-Ecole Polytechnique (BrightSpark Program) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Khalijah Awang (UM), Dr. Yvan Six (LSO, EP), and Dr. Marc Litaudon (ICSN, CNRS). The title of his thesis is "Isolation and identification of cyclic polyketides from Endiandra kingiana Gamble (Lauraceae), as Bcl-xL/Bak and Mcl-1/Bid dual inhibitors, and approaches toward the synthesis of kingianins". In 2019, he joined Prof Khalijah's team as HiR Research Assistant and worked on natural products research. He returned to France in May 2016 to join Yvan Six's team as a postdoc at Laboratoire de Synthese Organique (LSO), Ecole Polytechnique, where he worked on the total synthesis of kingianins analogues. In August 2016, he returned to Malaysia and started his own research team at the School of Chemical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His current scientific interests are focused on natural products and synthesis organic.
