I am Dr. Farhatun Najat Maluin, a Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). My research focuses on sustainable nanodelivery systems, particularly the design of intelligent nanocarriers for the controlled and targeted delivery of agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and bioactive compounds with enhanced precision, efficacy, and safety. By integrating applied chemistry, biochemistry, and advanced analytical characterisation techniques, my work aims to develop efficient and environmentally responsible solutions for agricultural, pharmaceutical, and environmental applications. I am also actively involved in teaching inorganic chemistry courses, particularly bioinorganic chemistry, coordination chemistry, and selected topics in inorganic chemistry, alongside student supervision and curriculum development. I welcome research collaborations, industrial partnerships, and prospective students to join my Nanotechnology and Controlled Delivery Systems Laboratory.

Education

  • B.Sc. (Hons) (UM), M.Sc. (UM), Ph.D (UPM)

Areas of Expertise

  • Green Nanotechnology, controlled release formulations and sustainable nanodelivery systems

Research Profile

Research Interest

My research focuses on the design, synthesis, characterisation, and application of controlled nanodelivery systems aimed at developing safe and environmentally responsible nano-products. I am particularly interested in targeted delivery platforms that enable efficient transport and controlled release of agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and bioactive compounds at specific sites while minimising off-target effects.

My work explores biopolymer-based nanocarriers and host–guest nanocomposites, integrating applied chemistry, biochemistry, and advanced analytical techniques. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, sustainability, and practical applicability, particularly in agricultural, pharmaceutical, and environmental contexts. This research supports broader goals in sustainable development, including improved health, environmental protection, and responsible use of chemical technologies.
